Why the organization was started?
My name is Kizito Henry, I am the the Chief Executive Officer and the founder of Kizito and Barbara Ministries, and Evening Star Nursery and Pre-Primary School.
I started this organization because of how the experiences I went though during my childhood and youth affected me. I had to start working when I was still young in order to support my family because I come from a poor background where children start working at an early age.
My education wasn’t easy, it was full of struggle and suffering.
My mother only paid my school fees in primary one and two, because she had no money to pay the rest. From primary three to university, I have been assisted by different people, up to Makerere University. I only failed to complete university due to lacking the money to pay the tuition fees.
Because of things I went through, like going to school in a torn uniform, not having school fees on time, coming back from school to find no food at home, not having enough money to pay the rent, having no scholastic equipment, and, to make matters worse, finding myself having no job and struggling on not managing to find employment anywhere.
We don’t learn experience from school, it’s something we have to go through and experience. You and I can’t keep on pretending that someone else will take the part. It’s you and me, so let us begin.
Together, we can create a better future for the children, and they will have a better tomorrow, one which is brighter than yesterday.
